The Bridges To Books Campaign
The Story behind the Journey
Bridges to Books is more than a walk — it is a journey of transformation.

Inspired by a powerful symbol, this campaign traces a path from the birthplace of industry to the town of books, reflecting the journey
from struggle
to
possibility.

The flagship walk will travel from The Iron Bridge to Hay-on-Wye, crossing the breathtaking Shropshire Hills and culminating at the world-renowned "town of books" — a destination that celebrates the written word in all its beauty.

However, this journey is about far more than distance.
It represents the path that so many dyslexic learners walk every day —
from frustration and self-doubt…
to clarity, confidence, and the joy of reading.

Every step taken helps change a life.

Funds raised will provide vital Gifts for Dyslexia bursaries, giving children, families and adults access to life-changing support that would otherwise remain out of reach.

Together, we are building a bridge —
from challenge… to confidence,
from limitation… to opportunity,
from struggle… to success.

The Journey Begins
Led by Richard Whitehead and Tatiana Whitehead,
Bridges to Books is more than a walk — it is a movement.
Taking place from 8—13 June 2026, the journey will travel from The Iron Bridge to Hay-on-Wye, raising not only funds, but awareness — bringing communities together in support of dyslexic learners.

Each step represents the path from struggle to possibility…
and a shared commitment to ensuring no learner walks it alone.

Be part of the journey.
Walk with us, organise a local Bridges To Books walk of your own, support the cause, or help spread the message — because together, we can build a bridge to a brighter dyslexic future.
